Toledo
This morning we bused to Toledo. This city is surrounded by the Targus River and remains a center for the Catholic Church in this region. (The term "Holy Toledo" comes to mind.) It was a place where Muslim, Jewish and Christian people lived and worked together. In early days it was know for the manufacture of swords and other weapons.
The Alcazar of Toledo - Originally built by the Romans in the 3rd century
We visited the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo. This cathedral was completed in 1493 after about 200 years of construction. It is the seat of the Metropolitan Archdioceses of Toledo. It is a remarkable building.
After touring Toledo we traveled on to Granada (a 4 hour bus ride).
